Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is a barbadian singer, songwriter, and fashion icon. She entered the music industry by recording mix tapes but eventually was signed by def jam records in 2003. Rihanna's first two albums sold were an instant hit. Both albums charted on billboard's top 10. After her career was launched she began taking creative control on her style and music. Her single "umbrella" made her name known world wide. She then released 5 platinum certified albums, one of them winning a Grammy, and another ranking number 1 on Billboard's top 100. Many of her songs are ranked as the top selling singles of all time. Rihanna is known as the fastest and youngest solo artist to earn fourteen number one singles. Rihanna has won eight grammy awards, eight american music awards, two brit awards, among any others.

In 2013 Rihanna presented her first collection at london fashion week with her brand river island. The clothing line released four collections. At the end of 2013 Rihanna announced that she would be the new face of the 2014 collections from Balmain. In 2014 Rihanna became the creative director of women's fashion sports wear for Puma. In her partnership with Puma, she released a line of creeper shoes. These shoes have been named a 2015 must have. They were sold out on pre-sale. Her partnership with puma has been very sought after. In 2015 It was announced that Rihanna would be the new face of Dior. She was the first black women to ever be the face of Dior. Later in the year she released multiple collections of designer women's socks while partnered with Stance. Her latest advance in fashion has been a futuristic sunglass line with Dior called "Rihanna".

Rihanna has been known through the years for her bold and sexual appearance and actions. Rihanna's single S&M received particular uproar from its viewers. The song its self reflected positive feelings about BDSM or pain as pleasure. The music video featured many displays of sexual fetishes including whips and gags. Though there was no nudity or pornoraphy featured in this video it was banned in numerous countries. This single sparked a new personality of Rihanna that has continued on for her career. Her latest fashion statement trend has been to expose her pierced nipples through sheer garments. This fashion statement was featured on her latest music video "kiss it better". The video nearly broke the internet. Though Rihanna has been known for having a daring and sexy style she has never conformed to one particular look. She frequently dramatically changes her style and appearance a she pleases. Her bold fashion sence and individuality has made her a timeless celebrity and fashion icon.
